There are plenty of legitimate secret shopper sites, and none of those will ever ever ever ask for a fee at all. The companies make their money by charging the clients a fee to perform the shop. If the site charges you a fee, it's not legit. Rule number 1 of any and all secret shoppers is never pay a fee. Search for online forums and discussion groups for mystery shopping, secret shopping, and similar terms.

I have never seen a “Secret Shopper” job that was not a scam. Be VERY careful with “Secret Shopper” offers. The ones I have seen later turned out to be money laundering schemes from scammers offshore.

You mention secret shopper in the segment on the 5 Best Temporary Jobs, but could you give some websites with companies I could contact about signing up to be a secret shopper? I would rather not pay a fee.
