Thanks for visiting our website! Whether you’re here by accident or design, I’d like to keep you coming back. So relax for a minute while I introduce myself, my work and explain how what I’m doing with my life just might make a difference in yours.

Here’s some advice: don’t ever take anyone’s advice, especially when it comes to your money, until you know the person offering it is qualified to give it. Here are my qualifications. I’ve been giving people advice about money for more than 30 years: three as an accountant, 10 as a stockbroker and nearly 20 as a TV journalist. Along the way I’ve been licensed as a CPA as well as in real estate, stocks, commodities, options, securities supervisory, and life insurance. I’ve produced more than 3,000 consumer and personal-finance TV news stories that currently air on at least 80 TV stations as well as major websites. I’ve also written multiple books for national publishing houses. So while I’ll never claim to be the sharpest crayon in the box, at least you can feel confident I’ve been around this particular block a time or two.

What’s just as important as credentials, however, is motivation. When I look at cable channels and popular personal finance websites, it’s obvious to me that a lot of people out there are more interested in growing their own savings than yours. Nothing wrong with making money: only a liar or a fool would claim that a paycheck isn’t at least part of the reason they go to work every day. But it should never be the primary reason for you, me or anyone else.

Here’s why I do what I do: I believe that we’re all put on this earth for a purpose and that happiness and fulfillment come when we find and begin working toward that purpose. And that’s hard to do when you’re forced to spend a great deal of your life running like a hamster on a wheel in a job you don’t like because you have to keep the bills paid. So my motivation…my purpose in life… is to take you off of that wheel by helping you find your personal version of financial freedom.

In short, I want you to be financially free so you can do what you want to do instead of what you have to do. And you’ll get there faster by saving more, spending less and staying away from freedom’s mortal enemy: debt. We help you do that here in at least four ways: with news stories in our news section, with money-saving deals and coupons in our deals section, with sites that help you earn more on savings and pay less on loans in our Rates section, and with a community to keep you motivated and engaged in our Blog section.

That’s what my life is all about and I genuinely hope it will make a difference in yours. To borrow a phrase from Alcoholics Anonymous: Keep coming back…because it works if you work it!

Peace.
