Happy Columbus Day! While you may have missed the boat on some weekend deals from yet another minor holiday, there are still riches — or at least savings — to be had. Celebrate the discovery of America this week by exploring discounts on food, home theater, construction tools and accessories, and patio furniture. What do these deals have to do with Columbus Day? Absolutely nothing.

Let’s start with a couple of food freebies. Thanks to a Gamestop.com promotion, you can pick up a free appetizer at T.G.I. Friday’s. It’s good through the end of November but can’t be combined with other deals or used with a few regular menu items.

You can also get a free cookie or a bag of chips at Quiznos when you pay for a sub and drink. Nothing tastes better than free.

This treat’s no trick: IHOP has rolled out their all-you-can-eat pancake deal good through Halloween. Combos start at $4.99, but only the pancakes are endless.

There are a couple good deals this week for eating at home, too: You can get a 60-inch George Foreman grill for half price at Kohl’s. That’s $19.99 plus tax and $1 shipping. Coupon code SAVE15MORE will knock off those extra couple bucks through Tuesday.

A FoodSaver handheld vacuum sealer is also on sale for a few days. Regular price is $19.99, but use coupon code J0FV85FS to get 82 percent off plus free shipping, which brings it under $4.

Looking for bigger savings? Let’s talk home theater. Newegg.com has a 6-piece Infinity home theater speaker system marked down almost 60 percent to $500. (Retail price was $1,200.) Make sure you enter coupon code EMCZYYW25 as they say on the page, or else it’s $700. Coupon’s good through Thursday.

They’ve got a similar deal on a Yamaha digital receiver, which drops from $600 to $300 with coupon code EMCZYYW22. Coupon is also good through Thursday, at which point the price will go up to $350.

By the way, if you’re also buying cables and other devices, Monoprice.com has everyday deals. For instance, you can get a 6-foot HDMI cable for $3 instead of the $25 or so you’ll pay at a retail store. (See our story called Rip-Off HDMI Cables?)

And now that it’s getting too chilly to take advantage, Sears.com is clearing out their patio furniture sets with some drastic discounts: up to 70 percent off. There are a few nice sets for under $200 now, including this 6-piece Edgewood set from Country Living. Smaller sets go for as little as $60 and there are more than a dozen styles of bigger sets under $350. Accessories like umbrellas and stands are discounted, too. Shipping can predictably get pricey, but in-store pickup is free.

Amazon.com is knocking 50 percent or more off some DeWalt brand tools and accessories that your home handyperson might want to check out. Some examples: a cordless radio which doubles as a power tool charger, a miter saw stand, and a miter saw LED work light for roughly half off. Those deals are good through Oct. 23.

Vistaprint is celebrating their 10-year anniversary with free gear personalized with your photos or logos, including tote bags, mousepads, mugs, and T-shirts. They’re also offering free business cards, banners, and postcards. You just pay for shipping. Check out all the Vistaprint freebies here.

AVG is offering a one-year subscription for their premium antivirus software free. This would be an upgrade from the always-free version they offer.
