Happy President’s Day! Almost every store has coupons or discounts for today – usually around 15 percent off. But it’s business as usual here at Money Talks News, and we found better deals on magazines, canvas prints, shoes, and men’s dress clothes.

Let’s start off with some delicious freebies: How about a free pancake puppies sundae at Denny’s when you purchase an entree? There’s also a buy-one-get-one deal on burgers at Sonic.

Looking to spruce up your home? Bed Bath & Beyond has a set of three rugs on sale for $50 plus $8 shipping. (Two more styles here and here.) At that price, you get matching rugs measuring 6.5′ x 9.5′, 20″ x 60″, and 20″ x 31″. If your local store carries these, you can save up to $18 by cutting out shipping and using an in-store coupon. Sign up for Bed Bath & Beyond e-mails here and you’ll instantly get a 20-percent-off coupon.

And while you’re redecorating, add some art with a personal touch. At ArtsCow, you can create three 20”x30” canvas-printed photos for just $20 with coupon code VDAYCNVS. This is a great deal – without the coupon, the total for three prints of this size plus shipping comes to $122. So this coupon’s worth 100 bucks. Plus, when you register you will also get a coupon code by email for a 20-page 8×8 hardcover photo book for $7 and free shipping, plus 1200 free photo prints.

Purse shopping, ladies? Save 30 percent at Coach Factory Outlets with this coupon.

And for the guys: Men’s Wearhouse is running a buy-one-get-one-free deal on everything except shoes. Even if you’re not looking for anything fancy, there’s everyday clothing like these polos, which are 2 for $20.

Kohl’s also has a sale on men’s dress shirts, up to 90 percent off. You can take another 10 percent off with coupon code NEW6963. Get free shipping on orders over $75, otherwise pay $6.

Amazon.com continues to have weird holiday sales, too – President’s Day apparently means70 percent off on footwear to them. I don’t think we’ll ever understand Amazon – even if we walk a mile in their steeply discounted shoes.

Another great deal at Amazon this week: cheap magazine subscriptions. Techies can pick up a 1-year subscription to Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Wired, MacLife, or Maximum PC for $6-10. Even better, if you spend $20 on a magazine order – and you don’t have to pick tech mags, there’s plenty more at that second link – you get a $10 Amazon credit to use on whatever you want.

We’ll wrap up this week with another weird deal from Amazon: They have some bizarre little flashlights at 50 percent off.

Check back next week for more non-presidential savings, and as always, we’d love you to share your own great finds in the comments.
