Can a billionaire be frugal, charitable, and down-to-earth? Sure.

Forbes just profiled David Cheriton, a computer geek and full-time academic who has invested more than $50 million in 17 different start-ups – but still works 12-hour days and acts like nothing’s changed.

He’s the man who helped Google get its start, and “still drives the same 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon he had before he made his money, lives in the same Palo Alto home he’s owned for the last 30 years and employs the same barber — himself,” Forbes reports.
