More Teens Getting Plastic Surgery

By on

More teens are getting plastic surgery. And according to a new survey, most parents support it.

Of course, the survey was conducted as a poll online by RealSelf.com – a cosmetic surgery website. Anybody who saw the poll was already looking for information about plastic surgery, so take the findings with a grain of salt.

Out of the more than 650 responses, though, “68 percent were in favor of plastic surgery for teens when it comes to bullying, while 32 percent were not.” Nearly a quarter said nose jobs and ear pinning would be appropriate surgeries.

And according to The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, “nearly 132,000 cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed on teens between 13 and 19-years old in 2011, up 5 percent from 2010.”

Here’s what The America Society of Plastic Surgeons (a different group) says average prices were last year for popular surgeries…

  • Breast augmentation: $3,388
  • Nose reshaping: $4,422
  • Ear surgery: $3,148
  • Eyelid surgery: $2,741
  • Liposuction: $2,859
  • Dermabrasion (for skin scarring): $1,218
