Singularity Hub highlights a new gimmick being used by Coca-Cola in South Korean vending machines…

The company has recently equipped vending machines with webcams and Microsoft Kinect sensors.

The goal? To get you to shake your booty, shout and cheer, and show as much passion as possible for free Cokes.

It’s like the Xbox 360 game Dance Central, which used the Kinect sensor to track your body’s motion. Except instead of being a dancing fool in the privacy of your own home, you’re giving Coca-Cola a free public commercial. The article links to a 2-minute YouTube video of the machine in action, where teens try to match the moves of a boy band apparently called “2PM” on a big video screen – and draw a large crowd.

The video seems to be part of a professional ad for the vending machines, designed to highlight the surprise factor rather than show how hard it actually is to win a free Coke. Think this will make it to the U.S.? Let us know if you see one. Better yet, send us the video.
