Ebates is giving you a chance to earn double cash back this week on online purchases — even gifts you’ve put off until the 11th hour.

As of Tuesday morning, about three dozen major retailers that partner with Ebates are offering twice as much cash back as they usually do.

I’ve racked up $63 in cash back so far this holiday shopping season by taking advantage of these promotions. The way I see it, that’s like getting paid to do my Christmas shopping.

The retailers currently offering cash back include:

  • Edible Arrangements: 3 percent cash back
  • FoodSaver: 8 percent
  • Harry & David: 7 percent
  • iRobot: 4 percent
  • JCPenney: 6 percent
  • Lancome: 8 percent
  • Lands’ End: 6 percent
  • Levi’s: 5 percent
  • Lululemon: 8 percent
  • Macy’s: 6 percent
  • Nine West: 7 percent
  • Overstock.com: 4 percent
  • Samsung: 4 percent
  • Sierra Trading Post: 5 percent
  • The Popcorn Factory: 10 percent
  • Walmart: 2 percent

Ebates is what’s known as a cash-back portal. By doing your online shopping through Ebates.com, you’ll earn cash back — during this promotion and in the future — on purchases from any of more than 2,000 retailers.

It’s free to sign up for an Ebates account, and it’s free to use the portal.

There is no “catch.” Ebates receives a commission from retailers for referring online shoppers to those retailers’ websites. Then, Ebates shares that commission with shoppers to encourage them to continue using Ebates — a win-win.

You will receive cash back from Ebates quarterly, as long as you’ve accumulated at least $5.01 in cash back.

Ebates is among the oldest and best known cash-back portals, but it’s not the only one. Others include MrRebates.com, Swagbucks.com and TopCashBack.com.

Even if you already have an Ebates account, you might want to check out other cash-back portals because different portals often offer different cash-back percentages for a given retailer.
