Sears wants to make shopping easier and more convenient for its customers.

The retailer has expanded its in-vehicle pickup service for Shop Your Way members to include returns and exchanges, according to a company press release. The in-vehicle service is accessed through Sears’ Shop Your Way mobile app and guarantees that members can be done with their return or exchange in five minutes or less, without leaving the comfort of their car.

Wow.

Becoming a Shop Your Way member is easy. You just need to provide your email address to a Sears or Kmart cashier, or sign up online. Then you can take advantage of the in-vehicle return or exchange service. Money explains the return process:

The customer requests a return or exchange at the Sears website and, after getting an email confirmation, heads to the selected store to handle the physical transaction. Once you’re in the parking lot, you use the app to alert the store you’ve arrived, and Sears guarantees a store associate will appear within five minutes to complete the return or exchange.

“We’re all living busy, on-the-go lives, and this latest expansion to Sears’ integrated retail conveniences means that you can spend less time making a return or exchange and more time shopping,” said Leena Munjal, senior vice president of Sears Holdings, in a press release.

If Sears can follow through on its promise to have customers pull into a parking space, return or exchange an item, and then leave the parking lot five minutes later, then it’s a win for customers, and definitely a service I would take advantage of.
