When I asked to switch to one of these, I was told they were only for "New Customers". Guess those idiots at Citibank don't want to keep their current customers. No wonder they continue to lose billions. I closed my 16 year account. My 820 credit rating might dip a tad but there is no way I'll ever do business with these people again. Lots of other banks out there.

If you go to the CitiBank web site there are a number of no fee cards listed. The reason is that in the summer months the sun is to high in the sky for the tree to cast shade on your roof. Planting on the east and west sides however, help to keep your house from heating up as early in the day and cast shade in the evening so your house cools off sooner in the evening. You hit it right on when you said to avoid evergreens. In the winter you want as much light and heat to get through as possible. However if you live in a very windy area evergreens especially those that work as mid to tall hedges or trees work well to cut down wind and wind chill.

Actually planting on the south side is not as helpful as planting on the east and west sides.
