The Feb 15 edition of Money Talks News has a article “Who’s Paying the Most of Savings Accounts?” Didn’t see any way to comment at the end of the article, so I’ll do so here. The top end of rates posted there was .95% APY. My credit union offers checking paying 2.78% APY. Yes, there are some usage stipulations (for example, at least 15 debit card transactions a month – they are free), and the max amount in the account is $25K. I won’t share the name of the CU since membership is limited to a rather small geographic area, but my point is – there are better rates out there if you look. Most often they will be at credit unions.
Synchrony Bank offers a 1.05% APY savings account.
