The Plain Dealer reports…
“The [Federal Trade Commission] agency really wimped out,” said Rosemary Shahan of Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety, or CARS. “They needed to overhaul the Buyers Guide and instead they proposed very minor changes.”
Auto dealers are required to say whether used cars are sold “as is” or with a warranty in a Buyers Guide. Some people wanted that guide to include information about wrecks and flooding, which consumers have to look up on their own.
