More Hondas at Risk of Fire

Another week, another recall. Find out what might catch on fire this time in over 250,000 cars.

This is not a good month for the Japanese automaker. It’s now recalling nearly 270,000 more cars because the “driver-side power window switch may fail or melt”…

Consequence:

If the switch fails, it could overheat, smoke, and cause a fire. A switch failure, and a fire, could occur even if the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the recall repair has been performed.

Remedy:

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and repair the switches, as necessary, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or about, November 2, 2012. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

This time it’s Honda CR-Vs made between Feb. 19, 2002, and July 28, 2006. The recall code is S61. If you have an Acura or Accord, check out Honda Recalling More Than 600,000 Cars from last week. And while it’s not a recall yet,Consumer Reports says another Honda SUV is being investigated for roll-away problems.
