There is no need to shell out big bucks for an expensive holiday centerpiece when you can make a DIY version for less than $6 using materials that are easy to find.
Start by finding a glass canister as a base. You can probably get one at a retail or craft store for less than $2. Fill it with any number of holiday-oriented goodies. Your options include:
Cranberry and flower centerpiece
Fill the canister with fresh cranberries, pour some water in and top with fresh flowers. It makes a gorgeous, eye-catching centerpiece!
Chestnut centerpiece
Chestnuts are also in season and on sale. You can layer chestnuts around a festive, scented candle to add color and texture to your centerpiece.
Can’t find chestnuts? Do what we did and use hazelnuts instead.
Sparkly ornament centerpiece
If you have extra Christmas ornaments, fill the canister with pops of sparkle and color to brighten up any holiday table.
Pinecone centerpiece
Spray paint some pine cones in shades of silver, gold and bronze. Your table will shimmer, and the pine cones can double as Christmas ornaments to hang on your tree.
Snow globe centerpiece
A DIY snow globe centerpiece is easy to create. To create snow, pour some Epsom salts into the bottom of the glass canister. Then, create a winter wonderland by placing a little house, miniature trees or reindeer inside.
You can even make it look like Santa’s workshop!
Candy centerpiece
Impress your guests with an edible centerpiece by filling the canister with your favorite candy and wrapping it in mistletoe, or attaching a small wreath to the side.
