Which cities are serious about savings? Coupon search engine ShopAtHome.com found out. Tracking online coupon use in 226 major cities, they found some interesting results…

Cities hit hardest by the Great Recession like Flint and Detroit, both in Michigan, are not likely to use coupons. Cities with some of the highest populations (Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago and Houston) also appear to utilize online savings less when compared to cities with populations between 100,000 and 400,000 (like Birmingham, Ala., and Boise, Idaho).

New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Georgia, and Florida were among the most frugal states, at least judging by their major cities.

Least frugal? California, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
