What Election Means for Health Care

President Obama won and Democrats retained the Senate, so the Affordable Care Act isn’t going away.


Mitt Romney promised that on Day One of his presidency, he’d get to work on blocking and repealing “Obamacare.” Well, that’s not gonna happen.

Instead, provisions of the health care reform law will probably continue to come online gradually. There are many, but Findley Davies lays out the major healthcare changes in a timeline here.

Most notable for the average person? Probably that starting Jan. 1, 2014, “Individuals must buy health coverage or pay a tax (starts at the greater of $95 per person or 1% of household income).”
