Another weekend, another food “holiday” — but who would complain about free root beer floats?
That’s what’s in store on Saturday, Aug. 6, which is National Root Beer Float Day.
Two major restaurant chains will observe the holiday by handing out freebies, while a third offers bottomless root beer floats year-round.
A&W Restaurants
This chain describes National Root Beer Float Day as “the one day every year where we’re happy to share our signature treat completely on-the-house.” It’s made, of course, with A&W Root Beer.
You can claim your freebie at any U.S. location from 2 p.m. to closing. Visit the “Locations” page to search for restaurants.
Wienerschnitzel
This chain will give you a free root beer float with any purchase if you present the coupon. The float is made with Mug Root Beer.
This offer is valid at participating locations, so consider calling ahead before heading to your local restaurant. Wienerschnitzel has locations in about a dozen states, and a complete list is available on the “All Wienerschnitzel Locations” page.
Red Robin
Perhaps the next-best thing to a free root beer float is a bottomless root beer float, which you’ll find on the menu at Red Robin. It’s made with Barq’s Root Beer. So, technically, the first root beer float is not free — but every one you can quaff down afterward is on the house.
If you’re not thirsty, consider the chain’s new root beer float cake. Yes, you read that right — root beer float cake.
Visit the “Red Robin Locations” page to search for a restaurant near you.
