Looking to score a great party without penalizing your budget? Here’s a replay of a story we did for last year’s Super Bowl that will make this year’s crowd cheer just as loud…

There’s nothing like a killer Super Bowl party, especially when it’s your team in the big game. Even if your budget is still on the defense, you can wow the crowd without sacking your budget. (Don’t you love puns?)

With Super Bowl XLV this Feb. 6, can you think of a better time to host a great bowl bash? If you use a little creativity and some basic planning, your party will be the topic of Facebook statuses for years to come. So, let’s get to the coin toss!

I called party planners Dawn Sandomeno and Elizabeth Mascali of Partybluprints to see what they had up their jersey sleeves: cheap and memorable being the goal, of course. The two bloggers tell me: If you “keep it simple,” you’ll win big!

No matter who’s on your guest list, including kids, you can still have a family-friendly and fun get together. Offer food and drink options appropriate for everyone. For drinks, the girls tell us to limit choices to three.

If you’re planning a guys-only party, check out these ideas from Partybluprints.

The party bloggers shared their ideas in this Skype interview.

Make it a team effort. Assign guests a dish to bring and pass. This shares work and expense. Buying in bulk can also save a lot if you have a large group.

To score big and save a buck or two, serve finger foods. You can feed a crowd for very little green with fan favorites like:

  • nachos
  • chips, dips, and nuts
  • sandwiches
  • pizza
  • BBQ pork
  • chili
  • ribs
  • Italian sausage
  • hot dogs
  • chicken wings

Got a group with a sweet tooth? Go with Jell-O. It’s inexpensive and you can keep the kids busy making football themed “jigglers.”

Speaking of kids, why not paint their faces in your favorite team’s colors and turn them into fanatics?

When it comes to decorations, let your guests take care of that. Encourage everyone to wear team jerseys and bring their favorite memorabilia. Why spend time and money decorating your home when your guests will do it best?

Don’t be a party pooper!

If you’re going to serve alcohol, make sure you find rides for your guests. Even if it means stealing keys! Find a taxi with this website.
