August has arrived, and even though that means the summer is winding down, it doesn’t mean the fun times are gone.
There is still plenty to look forward to this month, including back to school, weekends at the beach, and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
You can take advantage of many freebies this month, too. For example, in August you can:

1. Free Amazon gift card
Nothing beats a freebie — especially when you can give something back in return.

2. Free root beer float
Listen up, root beer fans! Aug. 6 is National Root Beer Float Day, and the A&W chain of restaurants is celebrating this momentous holiday by handing out complimentary root beer floats at all its locations from 2 p.m. to close.

3. Free bowling
Bowling alleys all over the country will offer free games of bowling as well as drink specials and other deals on National Bowling Day. It falls annually on the second Saturday of the month — Aug. 13 in 2016.
4. Free movie
On Aug. 20, head to your local Cinemark theater with friends and family to enjoy a free family friendly flick. In addition to the complimentary movie — which is available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., courtesy of Dreamworks Animation Inc. — you will enjoy discounted concession items (small popcorn, sodas and packaged candy for just $2) and all proceeds will go to a good cause. 5. Free national park admission
The National Park Service celebrates its birthday on Aug. 25, and this year marks a big one — 100 years.
Admission is generally free to all national parks on the park system’s birthday. But because 2016 is the 100th anniversary of America’s national parks, admission is being waived for a few extra days: Entrance is free from Aug. 25-28 this summer. It’s a birthday gift everyone can enjoy.
6. Free custom lunchbox
Babybel — the company that makes those delicious miniature round cheeses — is giving away complimentary custom lunchboxes in August. According to the company:
