Now is the best time of year to find a bargain on a new car, according to Consumer Reports.
Dealerships are advertising deep discounts on new 2015 models to help make room for 2016 models.
The nonprofit publication advises against basing a purchase simply on the sticker price, however:
Before racing to capture the latest marketed deal, remember that the real smart buys start with choosing a good all-around car, then negotiating a great deal.
To determine which top-rated 2015 vehicles are most steeply discounted this time of year, Consumer Reports analyzed recent transactions nationwide and factored in current deals to predict the average savings now available on these cars.
All of the following vehicles are recommended by Consumer Reports and offer potential savings of around $3,300 or more compared with their MSRP:
- Cadillac CTS
- Hyundai Equus
- Chevrolet Traverse
- Volkswagen Touareg
- GMC Acadia
- Kia Cadenza
- Volkswagen Passat
- Volkswagen Tiguan
- Buick Enclave
- BMW 5 Series
Earlier this year, Consumer Reports also included the Cadillac CTS on its annual list of the 10 top American cars you can buy, naming it the best luxury car.
