Starbucks and McDonald’s are among the many businesses that provide complimentary Wi-Fi access for customers. But the popular coffee chain and the fast food giant are promising to serve up their Wi-Fi with a side of website filtering technology that will prevent users from accessing pornography sites.

It’s an effort to provide a safer web browsing experience for customers. Both the National Center on Sexual Exploitation and the anti-pornography group Enough Is Enough applauded the two businesses for making the move.

“This simple act of corporate responsibility is good for the public and for customer service,” Enough Is Enough President Donna Rice Hughes said in a statement. “We commend both Starbucks and McDonald’s for leading the way for corporate America to provide safer Wi-Fi. We will vigorously continue to encourage other businesses and venues such as hotels, airlines, shopping malls, and libraries to filter pornography and child abuse images on publically available Wi-Fi in order to protect children and families.”

Calling internet porn a “public health crisis,” Enough Is Enough launched a “National Porn Free Wi-Fi” campaign in 2014.

Other major food outlets, including Chick-fil-A, Subway and Panera Bread, already have implemented porn-banning filters on their free Wi-Fi networks.
