Vehicle Owners Love These 10 Brands Most

The most-loved car brand in America rolls on for another year.

Once again, Tesla took top honors with the highest owner satisfaction ratings in a Consumer Reports survey of car owners nationwide.

As part of the survey, Consumer Reports asked owners whether they would buy same car again if they had the chance.

The publication based its results on surveys that included more than 300,000 vehicles from the 2019 through 2021 model years, with a few 2022 models tossed into the mix.

Each brand included in the owner satisfactions ranking received an overall score as well as scores for five factors:

• Driving
• Comfort
• Value
• In-car electronics
• Style

Tesla scored especially high for driving (5 out of 5), comfort (4 out of 5) and style (4 out of 5). Despite the fact that it got just 1 out of 5 for value, it still ranked highest in overall satisfaction among all car brands (82 out of 100). Telsa also finished first last year.

The top 10 most-liked car brands, and their overall scores, are:

• Tesla: 82 out of 100
• Porsche: 80
• Genesis: 75
• Chrysler: 74
• Dodge: 74
• Ram: 73
• BMW: 72
• Ford: 71
• Mazda: 70
• Hyundai: 70

For all brands in the survey, most owners said they would buy their vehicle again, according to Consumer Reports. But automakers that rank highest in the survey share a couple of things in common:

“Some models barely change over the years, but many undergo redesigns every few years and others are brand-new offerings. An automaker that consistently earns high satisfaction scores across its lineup has a track record of strong redesigns and brand-new models that fulfill owner expectations.”

Also of note, some of the most beloved brands — including Tesla and Genesis — are near the bottom of Consumer Reports’ vehicle reliability ratings.
