Choosing the best cellphone plan for you and your family can seem overwhelming. Not only are there more than 30 carriers to choose from, but each carrier then offers a variety of different plans for different needs.

The truth is, finding the right cellphone plan for you doesn’t have to be difficult. Our comparison tool does all of the hard work so you can quickly and easily compare plans that fit into your needs.

Select your basic needs

The first step in using our cellphone plan search tool is to select the main things you’re looking for in a cellphone plan. These include:

  • The number of lines you need.
  • Whether you want a new phone or you want to keep your current phone.
  • How much data, talk and text you want.
  • Which network you’d prefer.

If you’re unsure about some of these questions, don’t worry. You don’t need to specify everything.

Specify your address and carrier

What is important to specify is your address. Entering your address into the search tool will help us to provide you with a more accurate list of cellphone plans available to you.

The other thing that’s important to specify is which carrier you’re currently with. This is especially important if you want to continue using your current phone, since not all cellphones are compatible across all carriers.

Sort your results

Once you have your list of cellphone plans in front of you, you can sort the list by:

  • Price (both monthly and cost over 24 months)
  • Lowest upfront cost
  • Most minutes
  • Most data
  • Most savings
  • Popularity

Your list will by default be sorted by lowest monthly price. If you have a preference of a prepaid or postpaid cellphone plan, you’ll also be able to select this preference using the buttons at the top of the list — no contract, contract or prepaid.

Adjust your filters

It’s easy to adjust your cellphone plan preferences even after your list has been generated. So if you change you mind and want an unlimited data plan instead of a 2GB plan, simply adjust the dial at the top of your results.

If you click the “All Filters” button, you’ll be taken to a pop-up screen where you can adjust even more of your plan preferences. In this window, you’ll be able to select:

  • If you need a plan that includes mobile.
  • What cellphone you’d like.
  • Which carriers you’re interested in.
  • The maximum monthly amount you’d like to pay.
  • The maximum upfront payment you can make.

Did you know that many cellphone carriers offer both military and senior discounts? Within the “Filter Results” window, click on “Advanced” and you’ll see two drop down lists — one for military and one for seniors — so you can tell the search tool whether to include those plans or not.

Click individual plans for more details

Your cellphone plans search results page will help you compare similar phone plans by showing the amount of talk, text and data included in each plan, your monthly cost, upfront costs and other features of each plan. To find out more about specific plans, simply click the one you’re interested in and you’ll be able to read more about both the plan and the carrier.

When you’re ready to purchase, simply click the “Go to Site” button to visit the carrier’s website or call the number provided, and a customer service representative from the cellphone provider will help you get set up on your new cellphone plan.

Look out for special deals

When comparing cellphone plans be sure to keep an eye out for special deals and promotions the carriers are running. Sometimes carriers will offer things like 2-for-1 cellphone deals, discounted handsets and plans, or bonus credit on prepaid plans.

To make sure you don’t miss out on any of these special offers, we make sure to include this information in your search results so you can easily choose a plan that will give you the most bang for your buck. Just keep your eyes open for the green text!
