Last-minute Mother’s Day gift shoppers, rejoice: Ebates is offering extra cash back at mom-friendly retailers this week.

For example, that means the website will give you up to 26 percent cash back on purchases you make from certain florists, and up to 18 percent cash back at certain other retailers that sell gifts or items that make good gifts. That’s on top of any discounts from sales or coupons, and any cash back you earn by using a rewards credit card.

As of Wednesday, the florists participating in this promotion include:

  • From You Flowers: Offering 26 percent cash back
  • 1-800-Flowers.com: 20 percent
  • FTD.com: 20 percent
  • ProFlowers: 20 percent

Other participating retailers where you could find a Mother’s Day gift include:

  • Gifts.com: Offering 18 percent cash back
  • Personal Creations: 16 percent
  • GiftsForYouNow.com: 15 percent
  • Shari’s Berries: 15 percent
  • Perfumania: 14 percent
  • Godiva Chocolatier: 8 percent
  • Lancome: 8 percent
  • Helzberg Diamonds: 7 percent
  • Estee Lauder: 6 percent
  • Groupon: 6 percent
  • Teavana: 6 percent
  • Shutterfly and Tiny Prints: Both 4 percent

About Ebates and similar sites

Ebates is a cash-back portal. That means when you do your online shopping through its website, you earn rebates in the form of cash — commonly called “cash back.”

So to earn cash back, you visit Ebates’ site and find and select the retailer where you want to shop. From there, you will be redirected to the retailer’s website. Alternatively, you can use Ebates’ browser extension or mobile app.

Like other cash-back portals, Ebates receives a commission from retailers for referring online shoppers to those retailers’ websites. Then, Ebates shares that commission with shoppers. So your cash back is your share of that commission.

I pocketed $101.56 in cash back through Ebates last year.

To get started with Ebates or any other cash-back portal, simply sign up for an account. Signing up for and using portals is free.

Other cash-back portals include Mr. Rebates — which is also offering extra cash back for Mother’s DaySwagbucks Shop and TopCashback.

Even if you already have an Ebates account, you might want to check out other portals, as some portals sometimes offer more cash back than others at a given retailer. I now use both Ebates and TopCashback.
