October is the month for Halloween — and frightfully good freebies.

This month, you’ll find everything from free Lyft rides to rewards for flu shots and no-cost streaming of NFL football. So, scare up some gratis goodies by taking advantage of these nine October freebies.

Are you ready for some football? Amazon Prime members can stream NFL Thursday Night Football games for free throughout the rest of the season.

The perk is just another reason why half of all U.S. households have Prime. For more tips on saving at Amazon, check out the following:

Perhaps you are using fall to clean out all the paperwork you accumulated over the summer. If so, grab your pile of papers and head over to Staples, where you can shred up to 2 pounds of documents for free. Just print out the coupon at the retailer’s website.

Free Lyft rides — weekends through the rest of 2017

Lyft has teamed with Budweiser to offer free or discounted rides to people who have celebrated a bit too much on the weekends. If you plan to get tipsy and need a ride, you can head to the Budweiser Facebook or Instagram page on Thursdays at 2 p.m. to claim a code that will give you a $20 ride credit — $10 each way. The offer is good in nine states and the District of Columbia:

  • Colorado
  • District of Columbia
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Massachusetts
  • Missouri
  • Pennsylvania
  • New York
  • Texas

You must be 21 to use the code, which can be employed between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Whether the ride is “free” will depend on how far you travel. But either way, you can save a bundle every weekend through the end of the year.

Free messaging on Delta flights — ongoing

Have ever been on a flight where you desperately need to send a message to a loved one before your plane touches down? If you typically fly on Delta, you’re in luck.

Starting on Oct. 1, passengers on flights enabled with Wi-Fi can send free notes via iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. As the airline says:

Free messaging will be available on all Gogo-enabled Delta flights, including all aircraft with two or more cabins. Customers will be able to access free messaging through Delta’s Wi-Fi portal page, airborne.gogoinflight.com. Free mobile messaging will be for text use only and does not support the transfer of photo or video files.

JetBlue is another carrier that offers this service.

Flu season is once again underway, and both Target and CVS are offering an extra incentive to those who protect themselves with flu shots.

Stop by a CVS pharmacy located inside a Target for your flu shot, and you’ll get a free $5 coupon to use on your next purchase. However, the coupons cannot be used in Arkansas, New Jersey or New York.

Or, you can go to a stand-alone CVS location to get $5 in ExtraBucks Rewards that can be used on a CVS purchase. However, you will need to be a member of the Pharmacy & Health Rewards program to collect. This offer expires Oct. 10.

Even if you’re not a member of the program, you will still be rewarded with a coupon for $5 off your next $25 purchase. But the coupon cannot be used in Arkansas, New Jersey, New York or Hawaii, or at CVS pharmacies located inside Target.
