Time to throw out those stereotypes about women and shopping – but not about women and showering.

A new holiday survey by shopping sites ShopRunner and SheFinds claims…

  • 40 percent would rather go to the dentist than wait in line at a busy department store or mall.
  • 30 percent say standing in lines at the mall is worse than sitting next to a crying baby on an airplane.
  • 40 percent said they would do all their holiday shopping in their underwear if they could avoid long lines during the holiday season.
  • Nearly 40 percent stated they would sacrifice a monthly manicure/pedicure if they could avoid long lines and head directly to checkout while holiday shopping.

“Career women and full-time moms don’t want to spend their weekends running errands, they want to spend them doing fun things with their family and friends,” says SheFinds Media founder Michelle Madhok.

If another new study is accurate, women would rather spend some of that time alone in the shower. Delta Faucet polled 1,000 Americans and found that 40 percent of women agree that, “My shower is my time for focusing on just me” – compared to 28 percent of men. And if men could have anything they wanted in a new shower? Forty percent said, “more room for a significant other.” Women? They’d rather have “ambient music and lighting.”

But just to show you how even an esoteric study can have surprising and unforeseen results, Delta Faucet found “4 percent of female respondents would rather take a good shower than talk to their significant other.” Ouch.
