Part Time Better Than No Time

By on

With the economy in the doldrums and expected to remain that way for months to come, both unemployed and employers are doing what they can to stay afloat. Something that can help…at least partly? Part-time work.

“Right now Kaplan’s looking to fill between 2 and 3 thousand part time teaching positions.”
-Caryn Pochran, Florida Director of Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions

Those positions are nationwide in some of Kaplan’s 160 Test-Prep and Admission Centers. Search for a job at Kaplan

“These are teachers who are teaching the SAT, LCAT, GRE GMAT courses.”

And at 20 to 25 dollars-an-hour, it’s a part-time job that can really help. Which is reason one to consider part-time work: money. Reason two? Part time can sometimes lead to full-time.

“You know many of our part time employees move into a full time teaching position, full time management position or full time corporate position all over the country. So there’s always the opportunity for a Kaplan teacher to pursue a full time career with us.”
-Caryn Pochran, Florida Director of Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions

And one more reason that part-time beats no-time: contacts. Part-time work allows you to make connections with people that could potentially land you a job in another company or field. It’s also a confidence builder.

“This is an opportunity for them to continue to do something while they are out there looking and to do something that’s rewarding for them.”
-Caryn Pochran, Florida Director of Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions

Of course, like full-time work, part-time is hard to find these days. But work the internet, unemployment centers and the classifieds and hopefully your effort will pay off.
