Optimizing for search engines can be the most important thing you do for your web site. You may have seen it termed as SEO for Search Engine Optimization, but it’s nothing more than the process of adding the words that people using when they search for products or services like yours.
Get the names and email addresses of your visitors by having some kind of free offer on your web site. Annie’s Costumes, a halloween costume store, offered a plasma TV last halloween and had people subscribe to their newsletter for a chance to win that prize. This giveaway helped to grow their number of subscribes to well over 175,000.
So, send your visitors something regularly, but you have to make it really good. Don’t just spam them with offer after offer, send some articles, something interesting, something they can use. The idea is to make sure your customers get something they wont simply mark as junk.
