Healthy eating often comes with a hefty price tag. Even the most expert coupon clippers grouse about how difficult it is to find bargains on fresh fruits and vegetables.

That is especially frustrating when you have resolved to eat a more healthful diet. However, it is possible to save on delicious, nutritious produce — if you know where to look.

Following are six little-known places to find coupons for fresh produce. And they’re all free.

1. SavingStar

SavingStar is essentially a paperless rebate program. It enables you to earn cash back on items you buy at many retail chains, primary grocery stores but also warehouse clubs.

Depending on the chain, you redeem SavingStar offers using a store loyalty card or via SavingStar’s app or website. Once you rack up $5 in savings, you can cash it out by transferring it to a bank account or PayPal account or converting it to a gift card.

SavingStar offers include a “Healthy Offer of the Week,” which is for certain fruits and vegetables.

Now that’s healthy choice for your body and your bank account.

2. Ibotta

Ibotta is a rebate app. It enables you to earn cash back on items you buy at various types of retailers, including grocery stores and warehouse clubs. Those offers include cash back on fresh fruits and veggies.

We told you about Ibotta most recently in “This App Just Made It Easier to Track Your Cash Rebates.”

Once you rack up $20 in cash back by using Ibotta, you can cash it out by transferring it to a PayPal or Venmo account or converting it to a gift card. (Reaching the $20 mark is easier than you might think, as Ibotta is currently offering a $10 welcome bonus for registering for an account.)

3. Driscoll’s

Join this berry brand’s Rewards Club, and you’ll receive exclusive offers.

You can also elect to become a member of Driscoll’s Consumer Advisory Panel. Panelists are eligible to fill out online satisfaction surveys and receive coupons in return for participating. Talk about a berry sweet deal!

4. Fresh Express

Fresh Express is a brand of produce that happens to be a subsidiary of fruit giant Chiquita. You’ve probably seen Fresh Express bagged salads in the produce section of your local grocery store.

You can get coupons for these assorted leafy greens, as well as “the latest salad ideas” and “fresh tips,” if you sign up for emails from Fresh Express.

5. Earthbound Farm

This is a brand of organic produce items you can find at some grocery store and supermarket chains. Earthbound Farm products include packaged greens as well as fresh, frozen and dried fruits and vegetables.

If you sign up for the brand’s email newsletter, called Organic Bound, you’ll receive coupons as well as recipes and healthy living tips.

6. Organic Girl

Organic Girl is a brand of organic greens and products like salad dressing that are found at certain chains.

You can receive promotions for these items, as well as recipes and other perks, if you join Organic Girl’s email list. Click the signup button in the upper right corner of the brand’s website.
