Amazon Prime customers will get streaming access to thousands of popular recent and classic titles

Good news for movie buffs: Amazon has just doubled its selection of TV and film to more than 25,000 titles.

Today, Amazon and EPIX announce a multi-year licensing agreement in the United States, which will add thousands of new releases, classic library titles, and original programs to Prime Instant Video. Programming from the agreement includes movies from EPIX studio partners, Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, and Lionsgate.

EPIX had an exclusive streaming deal with Netflix, but that expired this month. The deal means hits such as The Avengers, True Grit, Rango, and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never will soon be available through Amazon Prime Instant.

Amazon Prime is $79 a year (with discounts occasionally offered to demographics like college students and moms) and includes unlimited access to their streaming library, an e-book library of over 180,000 titles for Kindle readers, plus free two-day shipping on most items Amazon sells directly. The company also has a much larger library of TV shows and film – including new releases and next-day TV shows – but those must be rented separately.
