For a second year in a row, Kelley Blue Book has named the new Honda Civic the “overall best buy.”

The automotive research firm announced the winners of its latest annual Best Buy Awards this week. It honored standout vehicles from model year 2017.

KBB considered more than 300 new cars — “nearly every new vehicle available in America” — for the awards. The factors examined for the analysis include:

  • Vehicle pricing/transaction prices
  • Five-year cost-to-own data (which includes depreciation, insurance, maintenance, financing, fuel, fees and taxes)
  • Consumer reviews and ratings
  • Vehicle sales/retail sales information

The 2017 Honda Civic received the top honor because of its “unsurpassed all-around value.” KBB continues:

“It turns in very high marks in objective measures like resale value and cost to own, yet it also is a supremely satisfying car to drive and live with every day. We believe the 2017 Civic is an exceptional value…”

Within each category, the following 2017 models were named best:

  1. Small car: Honda Civic
  2. Mid-size car: Honda Accord
  3. Full-size car: Chevrolet Impala
  4. Luxury car: Audi A4
  5. Sports/performance car: Porsche 718 Boxster
  6. Electric/hybrid: Toyota Prius Prime
  7. Small SUV/crossover: Kia Sportage
  8. Mid-Size SUV/crossover: Honda Pilot
  9. Full-Size SUV/crossover: Chevrolet Tahoe
  10. Luxury SUV/crossover: Mercedes-Benz GLC
  11. Truck: Ford F-150
