The Best Times to Look for Coupons

Sometimes it’s a waste of money to shop without a coupon. But sometimes it’s a waste of time to try to find a coupon. That’s because, depending on the company, there might not be a coupon to find. Some companies issue coupons every week, some once a month, some rarely.

As the Money Talks deals editor, I receive dozens of deals weekly from hundreds of companies. I sift through them for the best, which you can find in my deals posts and deals pages. Having done this for more than a year, I’ve gotten a good idea of how often certain companies issue coupons.

This post is a breakdown of those companies’ coupon “schedules.” There are more coupon issuers out there – and I’d love to hear about any you’re more familiar with – but this list still serves as a guide that simplifies the to-coupon-or-not-to-coupon question.

All of these companies’ coupons can be found online and printed out. Some stores have a printable-coupon page on their website or post printable coupons directly to their home page. For those stores, I’ve added the direct coupon link, which you should always check before shopping there.

Weekly

These restaurants and retailers issue coupons about once a week, so you should never shop without them. Just visit the Money Talks News deals page or do a Web search to quickly find what coupons may be currently available from these companies:

Monthly

These restaurants and retailers issue coupons closer to monthly. So if you don’t frequent these businesses, you may want to wait for the next coupon to come out before eating or shopping there. But if you eat or shop there multiple times a month, you may find nothing new to reduce the cost.

Comments & discussion

We welcome your opinions, but let’s keep it civil. Like many businesses, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. In our case, that means those who communicate by name-calling, racism, using words designed to hurt others or generally acting like an uninformed bully. Also, comments that include links to email addresses or commercial websites typically aren't posted. This isn't a place to advertise your business.
