One revolutionary thing about the web is that, unlike traditional media sources, it offers the opportunity for two-way conversation. A website can encourage readers to interact with article authors, as well as with each other. The easier a site can make that interaction, the more it becomes a true community.

We just put the finishing touches on something that will make us a much richer community: The Money Talks News Forums. It’s a place where you can speak your mind, explore topics in depth and, most important, post questions and get answers. In short, it’s a place where all of us can gather, talk and help each other.

How it works

Have a great tip to maximize your money? Post it in the forums and share your advice. Have a question or know the answer to one? Post it. Together we’ll build a rich collection of tips, advice and answers to every type of money-related question.

Our goal is to create a place where you can feel comfortable asking for help, and where you can expect to find it. We’ll be recruiting outside financial experts to contribute to the conversation, identifiable by a badge or subtitle appearing beneath their usernames so you’ll know when you’re talking to someone knowledgeable.

And we’ll also develop ways to reward contributors like you. Badges, gift cards, T-shirts, books, and exclusive discounts at partner merchants and retailers are all things we’re exploring to reward those willing to spend their time helping others.

How to get started

Using the forum is simple:

  • Set up an account. It takes less than a minute.
  • Head to the Forums. Post something in Introductions and say “hi.”
  • Give the rules a quick read. so you know what’s OK to say and what isn’t. (Hint: If it would be rude to say in person, it’s probably not cool to say in the Forums.)
  • Say something! Ask a question, answer one or simply check out what others have posted.

We’ve tried to organize things in a way that makes sense, but as we get going, things will probably change. We want to keep what’s useful and ditch what isn’t. So tell us what you think. If there’s something you want to see or something you don’t, post it in our Suggestions forum. That will ensure the Forums will evolve to better meet your needs.

Together we’re about to build an amazing resource for anyone who wants to save more, spend less, or otherwise master their money.

And don’t forget to share this with your friends on Facebook by clicking the link below. Because there are only two types of people: those with questions and those with answers.

See you in the Forums!
