Ibotta Gives You 30 New Ways to Get Paid When You Shop This Month

Of all the ways to save money, using cash-back portals is perhaps my favorite. It takes but a few seconds of my time and essentially amounts to getting paid to go shopping for things I was going to buy anyway. What’s better than that?

Well, you’re about to get more than 30 new ways to rack up cash-back savings. Now through the end of September, the popular rebate app Ibotta is adding more than 30 online retailers to its lineup. This means 30-plus additional retailers at which you’ll be able to rack up cash back if you use Ibotta.

What exactly is Ibotta?

Ibotta is a free app available for Android and Apple devices. To get started using it, simply sign up for an account and download the app.

Ibotta is basically a rebate app. It enables you to get cash rebates on purchases from all kinds of retailers. As Ibotta’s website put it:

“Ibotta is a free app that pays you cash for everyday purchases. Ditch the coupons and get cash back the fun and easy way. Ibotta has exclusive rebates at your favorite grocery stores, retailers and shops. No more searching around for offers, coupons or discount codes …”

There are three ways to score rebates through Ibotta, and all are electronic:

• Take photos of your receipts.
• Link your store loyalty program accounts with your Ibotta account.
• Make purchases from online retailers by going through Ibotta, effectively using the app as a cash-back portal.

Once you’ve accumulated $20 in rebates, you can transfer it to a PayPal or Venmo account as cash, or convert it to a gift card. Racking up $20 is easier than you might think, as Ibotta is currently offering you a $10 welcome bonus for signing up for an account.

New ways to earn cash back with Ibotta

Ibotta recently announced that, now through the end of the September, it will be adding some 30 new retailers to its cash-back portal, referred to as the “Mobile Shopping” section of the app.

More retailers will be added to the lineup later this month, but the specific retailers Ibotta has revealed so far include:

• Gap
• QVC
• Sears
• Express
• PetSmart
• Walgreens
• GameStop
• Footlocker
• Lane Bryant
• Vitacost
• Stitch Fix
• Under Armour
• Barnes & Noble
• Hollister
• Abercrombie & Fitch

If you already use Ibotta or if you decide to download and start using it, be sure to also look for special bonuses that can boost your cash back. Ibotta describes them as three tiered bonuses, explaining:

“Earn even more cash back September 14th-30th by completing three special bonuses within this time frame. The first bonus is $2, complete each subsequent bonus to unlock the next level. The bonuses get easier as you go! Check your app for details.”
