Americans love to travel, and their experience at the airport plays a large role in whether a trip gets off to the right start.

Recently, J.D. Power announced the top-rated medium-, large- and mega-sized airports as part of its latest annual North America Airport Satisfaction Study.

The market research firm polled more than 30,000 U.S. and Canadian residents who traveled through at least one airport during the past month, asking them to rate their experience based on seven factors. Listed in order of importance, they are:

  • Ease of travel through the airport
  • Level of trust with the airport
  • Terminal facilities
  • Airport staff
  • Departure/to airport experience
  • Food, beverage and retail
  • Arrival/from airport experience

Based on a 1,000-point scale, these are the U.S. airports that travelers love best.
