Loyal Aldi shoppers know it well — the legendary “Aisle of Shame.”
The affectionate nickname is a nod to the delights and temptations this section of the store poses to customers.
Everything from clothing to home decor lines the shelves of the Aldi Finds area (its official moniker), and the selection typically changes every Wednesday.
This week, one kitchen item caught my eye (well, 10 items, actually). Here’s the scoop.
10-piece food storage set
Made by Aldi’s Crofton brand, this food storage set is perfect for the holiday planner, meal prepper or just about anyone who eats at home. They’re compact and stack easily — taking up minimal real estate in the fridge.
The set includes a total of five containers, each with a lid. The containers come in three different sizes:
- 2 that hold 1.25 cups
- 2 that hold 4.1 cups
- 1 that holds 18.6 cups
Besides the $14.99 price, here’s what I love about this set:
- Ease of use: These containers are safe for use in the microwave, freezer and top rack of the dishwasher.
- Leak-proof design: Each lid has two latches.
- Clear: The containers and lids are made of completely transparent (not opaque) plastic. No squinting to figure out what’s inside.
- Easy-close: You don’t need an engineering degree to properly seal these containers. Just slide and click the large black latch tabs to fasten the lid.
- Stylish: To me, the set looks much more expensive than it is: minimalist design, clear glossy plastic, and simple but effective closures. Heck, think ahead and buy a set or two as holiday gifts.
Similar food storage sets will set you back more than $15. The Rubbermaid Brilliance 10-piece set costs $26.99 at Target, and at Home Depot, this Joseph Joseph 10-piece nesting set is also $26.99. And finally, this Snap & Nest 10-piece set by Ello includes only one size of container and retails for $19.99.
