For the first time, Amazon is taking the concept of its annual Prime Day sale and creating something similar for the holidays.

The Prime Early Access Sale is a 48-hour holiday shopping event for Amazon Prime members that is scheduled to begin at 12 a.m. PT on Oct. 11 and to run throughout Oct. 12. Some savings are also available now.

The Prime Early Access Sale

Amazon is promising “hundreds of thousands of deals,” including rolling out a “top 100 list” of some popular items on sale. Brands Amazon mentions as part of this list include:

  • Hasbro
  • iRobot
  • KitchenAid
  • Samsung

In addition, Prime members will be eligible for up to 80% off select Fire TV smart TVs and savings on Alexa-enabled devices.

Amazon is promising the lowest prices of the year on some products from brands such as Caudalie, Murad and Philips Sonicare.

Amazon also mentions savings on products from:

  • Adidas
  • Ashley Furniture
  • Furbo
  • Lego
  • New Balance
  • Peloton

While the Prime Early Access Sale is only for Prime members, Amazon notes, “Customers can join Prime or start a free 30-day trial at amazon.com/prime to participate.”

Early offers

In a Sept. 26 press release, Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime, says “members can start enjoying exclusive Prime benefits and offers now.”

These early offers include:

  • Amazon Music Unlimited: From Sept. 26 through Oct. 12, Prime members who haven’t tried this music streaming service can get four months for free. Or, if they buy a one-month subscription, they can get a third-generation Echo Dot smart speaker for 99 cents. Non-Prime members are eligible to get three months for free.
  • Prime Video: From Sept. 30 through Oct. 7, Prime members can rent or buy a selection of new and popular titles for up to 50% off.
