If you’re considering a summer vacation this year, consider booking that hotel soon.

In the U.S. and most every other world region, you’ll save the most on hotels by booking them within two to four months of your trip, according to TripAdvisor’s recently released “Best Time to Book” report for this summer.

The report details the least expensive time to book hotels for trips to nine popular regions and 30 popular cities worldwide during June, July and August. It’s based on an analysis of TripAdvisor hotel pricing data.

TripAdvisor defines the “best time to book” as periods when hotel prices in a specific destination are consistently less than the average for that destination.

Saving on hotels by region

For travel to the U.S. as a whole, the best time to book is within three months of your trip, the report shows. By booking within that window, you stand to save 9 percent compared to peak pricing periods.

The regions where you can save the most by booking your hotel at the right times are:

  • The Middle East: Book your hotel within two months of your trip to save the most — 19 percent compared to peak pricing periods.
