Auto manufacturer FCA US LLC is recalling more than 17,000 Chrysler hybrid electric vehicles due to a battery pack issue that poses a fire risk.
A notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration emphasizes that the fire could occur when the vehicle is parked and in the “off” position. The agency is urging owners to only park outdoors.
“Owners are advised not to charge their vehicles,” the NHTSA stated, adding that they should be “away from structures, until their vehicle is repaired.”

Which Models Are Potentially Affected by This Recall?
According to the NHTSA, 17,277 vehicles are potentially affected by this issue. The model included is:
- 2020-2022 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric
The recall number is 52D.
What Else Should Car Owners Do?
Notification letters will be sent out on June 23. Additionally, car owners are advised to take their vehicles to the dealership for inspection, the NHTSA said.
The battery pack assembly will be changed, if necessary, at no charge. The high voltage battery pack control module software will also be updated.
