Ford Motor Co. is recalling 41,748 vehicles because a headlight defect could reduce a driver’s visibility or make the vehicle harder for others to see, increasing crash risk.
A recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says contaminated LED chips in the headlight assemblies could cause daytime running lights, parking lights, high beams or low beams to fail.
Which Models Are Affected?
The recall covers these model years and vehicles, according to NHTSA:
- 2025-2027 Ford Expedition
- 2026 Ford F-250 SD
- 2026 Ford F-350 SD
- 2026 Ford F-450 SD
- 2026 Ford F-550 SD
The recall number is 26C43. A dashboard indicator light will illuminate if a vehicle has inoperative low or high beams, the safety report says.
What Should Owners Do?
Owners can take their vehicles to a dealership for an inspection and, if needed, replacement of the headlight assemblies at no charge.
Ford plans to send notification letters on Oct. 26. Owners can call the company at 1-866-436-7332.
