More than 125,000 Ford vehicles previously recalled for various issues are being recalled again due to repairs that were done incorrectly, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Four different recalls have been issued for the vehicles by the NHTSA, according to its website. They include the following recall numbers: 26V373000, 26V374000, 26V375000 and 26V376000.

The vehicles are being recalled for various reasons, including possible malfunctions in the automatic windows, gear selection and the car’s transmission clutch.

Here’s what to know about the recalls, what models are included and what owners should do if they own a recalled vehicle.

What Models Are Included in the Ford Recalls?

The models being recalled include:

  • 2018-2020 Ford F-150 (91,198 vehicles)
  • 2017 Ford Escape (18,124 vehicles)
  • 2018 Ford F-150 (10,742 vehicles)
  • 2015-2018 Ford Focus (3,763 vehicles)
  • 2013-2016 Ford Fusion (1,489 vehicles)

Ford F-150 Recalled Due to Issues with Daytime Running Lamps

Ford is recalling 91,198 2018-2020 Ford F-150s under recall number 26V373000, according to NHTSA.

The recall is due to Daytime Running Lamps that may not dim, which could limit other drivers’ visibility and increase the risk of a crash. The issue was previously addressed under recall number 20V097, but was “repaired incorrectly,” the recall stated.

“When the headlight switch is turned from ‘Autolamps’ to ‘Headlamps On,’ the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) may remain fully bright instead of dimming to parking lamps as intended,” according to the recall.

To address the issue, owners can take their vehicles to a Ford dealership where the vehicle’s body control module software will be reprogrammed free of charge. Owners of vehicles impacted by the recall are expected to be mailed a letter notifying them of the issue by July 6.

Ford has classified the recall under the number 26C28.

Ford Escape Recalled Due to Issues with Power-Operated Windows

A recall for 18,124 2017 Ford Escape vehicles was issued under recall number 26V374000 due to a malfunction in the automatic windows that could increase the risk of injury, according to NHTSA.

“The power-operated windows may exert excessive force when encountering an object, before they automatically reverse,” the recall stated. This could cause the window to “pinch” drivers or passengers before it retracts.

The issue was previously addressed under recall number 16V617, but was “repaired incorrectly,” the recall stated.

To address the issue, owners can take their vehicles to a Ford dealership where the vehicle’s power window operating system software will be updated free of charge. Owners of vehicles affected by this recall are also expected to be mailed a letter notifying them of the issue by July 6.

Ford has classified the recall under the number 26C29.

Ford F-150 Recalled Due to Issues with Changing Gears

A recall for 10,742 2018 Ford F-150 vehicles was issued under recall number 26V375000 because of the increased possibility of a crash or injury due to an unintended gear shift, according to NHTSA.

“Quickly moving the shift lever from Park to Drive may cause a loss of gear indication on the instrument cluster display and a momentary selection of an unintended gear, such as Reverse or Neutral,” the recall stated.

The issue was previously addressed under recall number 17V669, but was “repaired incorrectly,” according to NHTSA.

To remedy the issue, owners may take their vehicles to Ford dealerships, where the truck’s powertrain control module software will be updated for free.

As with the recalls listed above, owners of vehicles impacted by the recall are expected to be mailed a letter notifying them of the issue by July 6, according to NHTSA. Ford has classified the recall under number 26S42.

Ford Fusion, Focus Recalled Due to Issue with Transmission Clutch

A recall was issued for 5,252 vehicles, which includes 3,763 2015-2018 Ford Focus vehicles and 1,489 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles. This is due to an issue with the transmission clutch that could lead to a transmission fluid leak. The issue could increase the risk of a fire if the fluid comes into contact with an ignition source, such as a hot engine, according to NHTSA.

“The clutch may fracture, resulting in damage to the transmission assembly and possibly a transmission fluid leak,” the recall stated.

The issue was previously addressed under recall numbers 18V169 and 18V845, but was “repaired incorrectly,” according to NHTSA.

To remedy the issue, owners can take their vehicles to a Ford dealership, where the software will be updated for free. The recall does not state what software will be updated or if the transmission or clutch will be replaced.

Similar to the recalls listed above, owners of vehicles affected by the recall are expected to be mailed a letter notifying them of the issue by July 6, according to NHTSA.

Ford has classified the recall under number 26S43.

What Should You Do if Your Car Is Included in the Ford Recalls?

Owners who believe their cars might be involved in the recall can search for their vehicle identification number (VIN) or enter their state and license plate number on NHTSA.gov to see whether their vehicles are included.

Anyone who has questions regarding their vehicle or their recall can call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.

Owners of cars impacted by the recalls listed above will also receive a letter notifying them of the issue, which should be mailed by July 6, according to the NHTSA.

Remedies for the issues stated in the recall have also been published and are stated above. Owners can contact or bring their vehicles to their local Ford dealership, where the issues will be fixed, free of charge.
