Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 100,000 vehicles related to two separate issues, according to a recall notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The two recalls, totaling 110,626 vehicles, involve issues that could increase the risk of a crash, according to the recall notices.
Here’s what to know about the models included in the recalls, why they were issued and what owners should do.
Which Models Are Included in the Ford Recall?
The following vehicles are included in the two recalls, according to the NHTSA:
- 2021-2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E (42,784 vehicles, 26V417000)
- 2025-2026 Ford Mustang GTD (289 vehicles, 26V418000)
- 2024-2026 Ford Mustang (67,553 vehicles, 26V418000)
Why Are the Ford Vehicles Being Recalled?
Ford is recalling 2021 to 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles because “the rear differential pinion shaft may fracture,” according to the recall notice, which could lead to unintended loss of drive power — or the vehicle rolling while in park if the parking brake isn’t applied.
Separately, 2025 to 2026 Ford Mustang GTD and 2024 to 2026 Ford Mustang models are being recalled due to malfunctioning windshield wipers and washer systems. In cold temperatures, the wipers may only function at the high-speed setting, and the washer system might fail to work at all.
What to Do if You Have a Recalled Ford Vehicle
For the recall affecting 2021 to 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles, owners can take their cars to a Ford dealership, where the rear differential assembly will be repaired or replaced free of charge. Notification letters were expected to be mailed by July 13, with a second letter to follow in December once the remedy is available.
For the recall affecting 2025 to 2026 Ford Mustang GTD and 2024 to 2026 Ford Mustangs, owners should receive a notification letter by July 8. A follow-up letter is expected in March 2027 once a remedy is ready.
Owners can check whether their vehicle is affected by searching their VIN, state and license plate number, or vehicle year, make and model at NHTSA.gov. Questions can also be directed to Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
