Is your holiday shopping list still a mile long? Retailers’ Free Shipping Day on Friday gives you time to find the perfect gifts for loved ones and get them delivered for free and under the tree by Christmas.
Here is everything you need to know:
- What is Free Shipping Day? Started in 2007, Free Shipping Day is a one-day, online shopping event in which participating retailers offer free shipping and guaranteed Christmas delivery on all orders they receive that day. As the event’s website explains, “last-minute purchases are as much a part of the holiday season as eggnog and poinsettias.”
- When is it? Free Shipping Day is Friday, Dec. 16. Many retailers offer special deals, in addition to free shipping, during the one-day shopping event.
- What makes Free Shipping Day so special? Only merchants that offer free shipping with no minimum-purchase requirements are allowed to participate in Free Shipping Day. The retailers also have to guarantee delivery by Christmas Eve.
- Who is participating? As of this writing, 1,018 retailers have signed up for Free Shipping Day 2016, including heavyweights like Target. Not participating this year, however, is Walmart. All free shipping offers will be revealed at the Free Shipping Day website at 12:01 a.m. EST on Dec.16.
