General Motors is recalling thousands of Cadillac vehicles because of a power-window issue that could increase the risk of injury.
According to a Sept. 24 recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), certain 2025-2027 Cadillac Optiq vehicles may fail to meet federal safety requirements for power-operated window systems.
When the express-up feature is activated with the key fob, the front windows may fail to stop and automatically reverse if they encounter an object during the final 13 millimeters of upward travel, according to the recall notice. GM said it was not aware of any complaints associated with the issue.
Which Cadillac Models Are Affected?
The NHTSA says 29,347 vehicles are potentially affected:
- 2025 Cadillac Optiq: 12,558 vehicles
- 2026 Cadillac Optiq: 10,201 vehicles
- 2027 Cadillac Optiq: 6,588 vehicles
The affected vehicles were manufactured between July 24, 2024, and Sept. 22, 2026, depending on the model year.
What Should Cadillac Owners Do?
GM will update the front side-door window software calibration at no cost. The update adjusts the anti-pinch protection so the windows meet federal stop-and-reverse requirements.
Owners of vehicles that can receive wireless software updates, and who have accepted the applicable terms, can get the fix over the air. The update is also available at a GM dealership.
GM implemented the revised calibration in production on Sept. 22, according to the recall report. Dealers were to be notified Sept. 24, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 9.
Owners can check whether their vehicle is affected by entering its vehicle identification number in NHTSA’s recall lookup tool or by using GM’s recall resources.
