Hyundai Motor America is recalling more than 290,000 vehicles in the United States due to a defect that could cause the driver and passenger seat belt anchors to detach.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a detached seat belt anchor “will not adequately restrain the seat occupant,” increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

The recall impacts certain Hyundai Ioniq 6, Genesis G90, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid vehicles. Here’s what to know.

What Models Are Affected?

The recall affects 294,128 vehicles of the following makes and models:

  • Certain 2023–2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6
  • 2023–2026 Genesis G90
  • 2024–2026 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid

What to Do If Your Hyundai Is Recalled

Dealers will inspect and reinforce or replace the seat belt anchors, as necessary, free of charge, according to the NHTSA. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 5, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Reference numbers for the call are 298 and 032G.
