A nationwide recall of pasta sold at Walmart has been expanded to include more products that may be contaminated with listeria, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Certain lots of frozen pasta, sold under Walmart-exclusive brand Bettergoods, were first recalled on Sept. 15 after routine testing found bacteria. The manufacturer, Gias Foods Inc., broadened the recall on Oct. 1 to include all lots.
Listeria can cause serious or fatal illness, particularly in older adults, pregnant people and people with weakened immune systems. The FDA advises consumers not to eat the affected product.

The frozen pasta was sold at Walmart stores nationwide in yellow plastic containers, with expiration dates printed on the back.

What Are the Symptoms of Listeria Poisoning?
Listeriosis is a foodborne infection caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. It can be dangerous or life-threatening, especially for adults over 65, people with weakened immune systems and pregnant people.
Symptoms usually begin within two weeks of eating contaminated food, but can appear as soon as the same day or as late as 10 weeks afterward. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions and diarrhea. Infection during pregnancy can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery or a life-threatening infection in newborns.
People in higher-risk groups who experience flu-like symptoms within two months of consuming the recalled product should seek medical attention.
