Average annual wage for a lawyer: $88,600

Lawyers in No. 51-ranked Montana easily earn the lowest average pay of any state in the nation — nearly $10,000 less than the No. 50-ranked state. But lawyers in Montana are still making bank compared with the average resident of Big Sky Country.

In fact, the average lawyer in Montana earns more than twice as much as the average worker in the state. Montana’s average annual wage across all professions is $43,860, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
