The cost of energy varies greatly from state to state, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Residents in Delaware, for instance, pay roughly half as much as residents of Connecticut, Rhode Island or Massachusetts.

Based on average rates from August 2023, the following states are where people pay the most for the electricity powering their homes.
