Whether we’re working at the office or working out at the gym, most of us love to tune into our favorite online music stations. But listening to your playlists on the go can cost you in cellphone data.

However, several cellphone carriers now offer data-free music streaming options so you can tune into your favorite stations without worrying about burning through your cellphone data. Also, these plans can be a cheaper alternative to an unlimited data plan.

Read on to find out how you can stream your favorite tunes worry-free.

Data-free streaming: How it works

With carriers’ data-free music, you can stream music endlessly from any of their streaming partners such as Spotify and Pandora without it counting toward your plan’s data allotment. Know, however, that some streaming services require a paid subscription to access music, so you will need to pay that. Also, some carriers such as Virgin Mobile exclude song downloads and video content from being considered data-free, so they will count toward your monthly data usage. Be sure to read the fine print.

Virgin Mobile

Stream your heart out on either Virgin Mobile’s Data Love 5GB or Data Love+ 10GB plans, which offer the bonus feature of data-free music. Each month, get unlimited talk and text plus 5GB or 10GB of data and data-free music when listening to Pandora, iHeartRadio, Slacker, 8tracks, Spotify and Milk Music. Song downloads and video content, however, will count toward your monthly data usage.

Boost Mobile

From Maroon 5 to Madonna, you can stream music on any Boost Mobile plan without it counting against your high-speed data allotment. Their 3GB plan, for example, includes unlimited talk and text, mobile hotspot and data-free-music streaming available with iHeartRadio, Spotify, Pandora, Napster, 8tracks and Slacker radio. Music streaming is optimized at extreme quality (up to 500 kbps).

Another Boost bonus: All taxes and fees are included in the price of the plans.

Metro PCS

Rock on worry-free! On the MetroPCS $40, $50 and $60 plans, you can stream as much music as you’d like without draining your data stash. Listen to over 40 premium streaming services, including Pandora, iHeartRadio, Apple Music and Spotify, and save on data.

Metro PCS also includes all taxes and fees in the plan pricing.
