Travelers can now save even more money on vacation bookings — to the tune of up to 13 percent cash back, and up to 50 percent savings — by booking on a Thursday.

This is thanks to a six-week promotion from the cash-back portal Ebates. It’s called “Travel Thursdays” — as all you have to do to take advantage of the savings is book via Ebates on a Thursday.

You will need an Ebates account, though. So, if you don’t already have one, just visit Ebates’ website and sign up. It’s free, only takes a few seconds and only requires an email address.

About Travel Thursdays

Ebates’ Travel Thursdays offers will be available from 9 p.m. PT on the prior Wednesday to 11:50 p.m. PT on the following Thursday:

  • Feb. 22 (ski theme)
  • March 1 (Europe)
  • March 8 (beaches)
  • March 15 (big cities)
  • March 22 (Disney)
  • March 29 (resorts)

As you can see, each Travel Thursday will have a different theme. For example, on March 22, it’s Disney. So, you’ll find travel deals for Orlando, Florida, and Anaheim, California.

During each of these periods, you can view or redeem the available offers by simply going to Ebates.com.

If you book a hotel through Ebates on a Travel Thursday, you’ll earn up to 10 percent cash back — or up to 13 percent cash back if you use the Ebates credit card.

For reservations on things other than hotels, you can save as much as 50 percent and earn cash back during Travel Thursdays. These bookings include airfare, rental cars, cruises and activities.

About cash-back portals

Ebates is what’s known as a cash-back portal. That basically means that when you buy something online by going through Ebates’ website (or its browser extension or mobile app), you earn cash rebates — aka “cash back.”

Cash-back portals receive a commission from retailers for referring online shoppers to merchants such as retailers and travel companies. The portals then share that commission with shoppers. So, your cash back is your share of that commission.

Again, to get started with Ebates or any other cash-back portal, just sign up for an account. Signing up for and using Ebates is free.

Other cash-back portals that also are free include:
